Is The Hybrid Mattress Firm?
It is advertised as medium firm and although there is no universal firmness rating, thanks to the hybrid technology it feels firm enough to support your spine but comfortable enough to feel like your being hugged by the mattress.

The Simba Hybrid original mattress is available 8 sizes:
- Single - 90cm wide x 190cm length x 25cm depth
- EU Single - 90cm wide x 200cm length x 25cm depth
- Small Double - 120cm wide x 190cm length x 25cm depth
- Double - 135cm wide x 190cm length x 25cm depth
- EU Double - 140cm wide x 200cm length x 25cm depth
- King - 150cm wide x 200cm length x 25cm depth
- EU Queen - 160cm wide x 200cm length x 25cm depth
- Super King - 180cm wide x 200cm length x 25cm depth
Delivery
Your Simba mattress is delivered via AO.com and you are given up to date tracking information telling you when you can expect your mattress. The deliver driver also rang when he was on route.
The mattress is delivered by two delivery people as it is extremely heavy, which I did not realise until it was to late.
My mattress was delivered whilst I was in a Zoom meeting and when they offered to take it up to the bedroom I said 'no' thinking I needed to get back to my meeting and it can't be that hard to take it upstairs.
However, make sure you take this option up, as the mattress weighs over 50KG and this was really hard to get upstairs and I regretted not taking this help.
Installation
Step 1
The first step is to take the mattress carefully out of the box. Because of the weight I found the easiest way to do this was to place the box on the bed and carefully taking the mattress out of the box.
Step 2
There are 2 layers of plastic around your mattress.
The first layer is a plastic wrap that holds the mattress in the cylinder shape that fits in the box.
Carefully cut this plastic following the scissor guideline provided.
This will unfold the mattress.
Step 3
The final layer of plastic is the vacuum packed layer and as soon as you make a incision it will release the air and your mattress will start expanding.
This does leave a slight smell in the air but open your window and it will soon pass.
Step 4
You can now unfold your mattress and place it in position on your bed frame.
According to the instructions it will take roughly 6 hours for it to completely expand.
Step 5
After 6 hours the mattress is ready for your mattress protector and ben linen to be fitted.
Review
We previously had a memory foam mattress and after 5 years of use it starting to feel like the mattress was sinking in the middle and it was time to upgrade.
We had heard really great reviews about the Simba Hybrid mattress from friends and wanted to try out a hybrid mattress rather than a memory foam mattress.
Both myself and my wife have slept really well since installing the mattress.
It feels firm enough that it supports you but soft enough to allow you to sink in to the mattress.
As a side sleeper, I really appreciate the firmness of the mattress. It feels exceptionally comfortable and noticeably improved the quality of my sleep.
I would recommend the Simba Hybrid mattress, but don't just take my word for it.
