Hoka Carbon X 2
Positioned as an endurance racer, the Carbon X2 delivers the same propulsive speed as its predecessor in an adaptable silhouette geared for training and racing alike.
The Carbon X 2 weighs 239 g/8.4 oz (men's model), which puts it in the upper echelon of weights in this category. However, despite having a stack height of close to 40 mm, the Adidas Adios Pro 2 and the Nike Alphafly both weigh 224 g/7.9oz and 229 g/8.0oz, respectively.
The Hoka Carbon X 2 has a thinner sole, 32 mm for men and 30 mm for women, with a 5 mm drop. A sleeker flared heel finishes off what was a very comparable upper on the original model.
Overall, it was well-received, notably for its cushioning that secures the heel in the shoe. Furthermore, the mesh is slightly thicker than before, making it more robust. As a result, the lockdown has been tightened. The testers liked this change, saying it made the shoe more race-ready.
The large "Swallow Tail" heel improves stability. It's made for runners who land on their heels (which is the bulk of the time) and gives greater cushioning as they land.
In summary, the Hoka Carbon X 2 has the same strong and springy cushioning as the first generation.
What Colours Are Available?
