The ON Cloudrunner 3 is a cushioned, stable daily trainer aimed at runners who want a secure, guided ride without going into full “motion control” territory.
It suits easy miles, recovery runs and general everyday wear more than it does speed work or races.
THE HEEL
The heel is noticeably structured, with a wide base and pronounced sole flaring that helps guide your foot forward rather than letting it collapse inwards.
There is a gentle heel rocker and a posterior lateral bevel that smooths out the landing for heel strikers.
THE UPPERS
The upper is an engineered mesh that feels soft and supportive rather than ultra thin and racy.
Volume is on the higher side with a roomy toe box, padded tongue and midfoot that lock the foot down comfortably for everyday training.
THE OUTSOLE
Underneath, On has reworked the CloudTec outsole with smaller, better organised “clouds” and more rubber coverage to improve support and durability.
The rubber compound focuses on heel and toe off areas for grip on wet pavements and high wear zones, giving a stable, planted road feel.
THE MIDSOLE
The midsole uses Helion Superfoam with On’s CloudTec geometry, delivering firm but protective cushioning rather than a super bouncy ride. It feels stable and consistent over longer, easier runs, but can come across a bit flat if you try to pick up the pace.

Weight varies slightly by size, but my men’s UK size 9 (US10) weighed 310g and.
WHAT IS THE HEEL TO TOE DROP?
The heel to toe drop is 8 mm.
DOES IT HAVE A CARBON PLATE?
The Cloudrunner 3 does not have a carbon plate.
Instead, it relies on its wide base, heel clip and CloudTec geometry for guidance and a smooth rocker, keeping it firmly in the everyday trainer category rather than a plated performance shoe.
HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?
At launch, the ON Cloudrunner 3 sits in the mid to upper price bracket for daily trainers, retailing at £140.
MATCHING SOCKS
I could not find an exact match but I wanted to keep it on brand so I paired the shoes with the ON Liquid Logo High Sock in Zinc/Linen colour.
The Mid Performance Run Sock in Tin/Lemonade might also work well.
CONCLUSION
The On Cloudrunner 3 is a great option if you want a secure, stable heel, plush upper and steady cushioning for easy road miles rather than a fast, energetic feel.
It’s on the heavier, firmer side, compared to something like the Adidas EVO SL but if your loyal ON customer I think your value the comfort, guidance and durability for daily training and walking, and will earn its place in your rotation.
