You can wear them without socks for short periods, but I found them more comfortable wearing socks with them.

Yes, they are really similar to my favourite recovery shoe the Hoka Restore TC and just as easy to slip on.
They are lighter and have more of a rocker motion than Hoka, but I really like feel of them.
