The Bimble and Bolt super strider shorts are advertised as your “go to shorts, designed for everyday bimbles, races, hikes, workouts and even casual wear.
They claim to offer med-high compression, a high waist, full support, moisture wicking fabric and enough pockets to store all your running needs.
As a female runner with sensitive skin who is incredibly fussy with shorts, I was curious to see if they lived up to the promise.
I tested them across both short and long runs ranging from 5km to 16 miles and from the very first outing, I experienced no rubbing, chafing or discomfort, a rare win for my skin type.
They didn’t rise, roll or move out of place at any point either which I have experienced in similar style shorts.
COLOUR AND FIT

I tested the Pixi purple 6 inch shorts in size XS (I normally wear a UK 8) and matched it with the Bimble & Bolt vest.
Other colours available:
- Green
- Black
- Red Dune
- Mulberry
- Midnight (Navy)
- Teal
- Berry
- Violet
- Wine soft (essential red wine colour).
These shorts are flattering and holds the colour well even after washing.
I chose the 6 inch length, which gives enough thigh coverage without excess fabric and feels ideal for both summer and winter running. Those wanting more thigh coverage can opt for the 8 inch or 10 inch version.
Fit wise, these shorts manage a good balance between compression and comfort. The medium high compression feels secure without being restrictive and the high waistband offers excellent stability without digging in or rolling.
Even during hill sessions and tempo efforts, the waistband stayed in place and was supportive.
If you’re between sizes or prefer a slightly less compressive feel, I’d recommend sizing up.
FEATURES

- Med-high compression
- High waist
- Sculpt and support fit (I feel like the design makes these really flattering)
- Rear zip picks
- Two large side pockets
- Reflective bolts
- Waistband loop
- Moisture-wicking
- 6” length
One of the standout features is the pocket design. As someone who dislikes wearing running belts, pockets are essential.
These side pockets are genuinely functional, large enough to store multiple gels AND a phone without bounce or distortion. Even when carrying everything for a longer run, the shorts didn’t sag or twist which I was impressed by.
I also tested them in the gym and found them completely ‘squat-proof’, with no transparency issues and no awkward sweat patches, a common problem with many shorts in these style that aren’t black. They move smoothly with the body and don’t roll at the hems, even during strength training.
The rear zip pocket adds extra storage for valuables and the reflective detailing is a useful addition for early morning or evening runs, especially as we head into winter running.
COMFORT AND PERFORMANCE

The shorts are made from a 70% Nylon / 30% Spandex performance blend, produced in an OEKO-TEX certified factory, which provides reassurance regarding material safety and skin sensitivity.
The fabric feels soft, breathable and durable, yet still supportive enough to offer a ‘held-in’ feeling.
Unlike some compression shorts that feel suffocating or hard to get on and off, these have just the right level of stretch. I found:
- They dry quickly after sweaty sessions.
- No seams caused irritation.
- The fabric didn’t trap heat
- No awkward rubbing on the inner thighs
- They maintained shape after wash
Across long runs, they performed consistently, no shifting, no chafing and I didn’t have to stop and adjust. The compression also seemed to help reduce fatigue on longer miles without feeling restrictive.
As a runner who has always been loyal to other brands, I wasn’t expecting these to match the performance and comfort I’m used to, but they did.
PRICE

At £45, in my opinion these shorts offer excellent value for money.
I usually pay around £70 for similar shorts from other named brands and the quality, comfort and features here genuinely match them.
For runners who want performance without the extra premium price tag, these feel like a smart choice.
CONCLUSION

The shorts have quickly become a leading role in my running wardrobe.
They remove the need for a running belt, feel comfortable even on long runs, and offer reliable support without rubbing or shifting.
I genuinely think they would make a brilliant marathon short primarily due to their storage, stability and comfort.
WOULD I RECOMMEND?
Absolutely. These shorts are a perfect blend of comfort, practicality and performance, especially for runners who value pockets, stability and skin friendly fabrics.
