My name is Vicky, I am an avid runner and co-run an Instagram account with my close friend Justine (@girlsreallyrun).

WHAT IS COOPAH?

coopah app on phone

Coopah is an online running coaching app designed to help runners of all levels achieve their goals.

Whether you’re training for a race, working towards a PB, or improving your fitness, the Coopah app provides personalised, structured training plans that adapt to your specific needs.

It is one of the top contenders in the world of fitness apps, alongside competitors like Runna.

The app is known for its high-profile partnerships with major events, including the TCS London Marathon, Cambridge Half Marathon and Brighton Marathon.

KEY FEATURES

  • Personalised training plans based on your fitness, goals and schedule. This can be adapted when times when life gets in the way.
  • Plans for distances ranging from 5K to ultramarathon.
  • Includes strength training aim to improve running efficiency and prevent injuries.
  • Compatible with both iOS and Android devices and if you’re using a fitness watch the session can be sent straight to the watch from the app.

MY EXPERIENCE

TRAINING FOR THE CAMBRIDGE HALF MARATHON

I’m currently using Coopah to train for the Cambridge Half Marathon, with a target time of 1:25.

Prior to Coopah I haven’t had much experience from running apps, so I was unsure what to expect, but since opening the app I have been impressed by how intuitive and easy-to-navigate it is.

I found the app setup straightforward. You enter input your race details (or goal you want from the app), your current fitness level and training availability and the app creates a personalised plan for you in minutes.

It offers flexibility to adjust the plan as life events unfold, without the flexibility I think it’d be easy to skip a session when life gets in the way. I generally struggle to be able to fully commit to training on my work duty weeks, so this option helps keep me on track.

Using the information I provided on the set up, I felt that the app set me realistic paced sessions to ensure that my sessions are challenging but not impossible. As I have got closer to race days there have been an increase in terms of intensity and overall workload which I’d expect to help fully prepare me.

ACCESSIBILITY

For me, Coopah stands out for its simple, intuitive interface that is perfect for both experienced runners and newcomers.

I’ve found the app easy to navigate, making it simple to input goals, track progress and log workouts. I’ve shared the app with friends and family who aren’t completely comfortable using technology and they shared that it was quite simple to use and understand.

The app syncs workouts to your GPS watch so for me it’s a massive selling point as I love that it makes my life easier by eliminating the tedious task of inputting sessions into my watch, which I find time consuming.

The app also outlines the various types of runs you’ll be doing, such as intervals, easy runs, and long runs to help you understand the importance of different sessions and how collectively it helps you reach your goal.

The strength sessions include videos demonstrating how to perform each exercise, which I think is helpful, especially if you’re new to fitness or trying out different exercises.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

coopah coach support
  • Real-life coach support: Access in-app chat with certified coaches for advice and adjustments to your training plan.
  • Workout tracking: Automatic syncing with GPS watches and other running apps such as Garmin and Strava; keeping all your data in one place.
  • Recovery plan: Following your targeted goal, the app provides you with a personalised recovery plan to support you to rest and recover after the event and get you back into training in a way which reduces the risk of injury.

HOLISTIC APPROACH TO RUNNING

What sets Coopah apart from other apps is that it upholds a holistic approach to training.

Alongside structured running plans, Coopah includes strength and conditioning workouts specifically designed for runners.

The routines they provide target the muscles and movements that improve running form, prevent injuries and enhance overall performance which I think are fundamental elements for a well-rounded, injury free runner but is often overlooked.

The app also offers yoga and little shakeout routines to support recovery (again, another aspect often overlooked).

A key aspect to Coopah which I really appreciate is that it also has a post event training plan to guides you from the event, through your rest & recovery and then back into regular training which I think is amazing as there’s always a risk of coming back to hard running to soon from a race and getting injured.

MOTIVATION TOOLS

  • Streaks and progress tracking to keep you accountable.
  • Coach check-ins and 1:1 coaching call for personalised feedback.

The app also keeps you motivated with progress notifications, congratulating you when you hit milestones or complete a streak of workouts.

Whilst offering you reminders of planned sessions.

FLEXIBILITY AND ADAPTABILITY

One of the main features of Coopah is its flexibility. Life is busy and things often don’t go to plan.

When I’ve had running plans before I have found the rigidity of them off putting and unrealistic and so I love that Coopah makes it easy to adjust your schedule as needed. You can quickly modify your training plan on the app.

This adaptability keeps you on track and helps minimising that horrible feeling that you’re failing.

PRICING

In my opinion Coopah offers good value for the price, especially considering its comprehensive features.

While some online coaching services can be expensive, Coopah provides affordable options without compromising quality.

The monthly subscription is £14.99 or you can sign up for a year for £79.99, saving you a massive £98.89.

Coopah is more affordable than some other apps or online running coaches, making it a great choice for runners looking for professional guidance without breaking the bank.

CONCLUSION

Coopah is a great running coaching app that combines flexibility, affordability and professional training plans whether you’re aiming for a specific race time or looking to improve your fitness.

With features like personalised training plans, real-time coach support and strength and conditioning routines, it offers a holistic approach to running that goes beyond just logging miles.

I love that it is inclusive to all levels of runners!
