Heel
The heel is well cushioned and feels like a memory foam that responds back to you. You can only slightly feel the 4mm drop from heel to toe.

Uppers
The uppers are light and breathable. It also has some reflective strips that I love to see on trainers. The design is quite simple but the simplicity is quite refreshing.

Outsole
The AltraFWD experience provides good grip on the roads considering its simple thin rubber parts of the outsole. The rest is exposed foam, which to my surprise has not worn down yet.

Midsole
The midsole is made from a EVA foam that is lightweight, responsive and it feels like it is almost moulded to your feet. I really like the gentle rocker shape that gives you that little extra propulsion.
Review
This is my first time in Altra running shoes, and I must say they exceeded my expectations in several ways.
I really liked the roomy toe box, allowing my toes plenty of room.
These shoes are not just great for running. I have used them for walking about too, putting your feet in a great natural position.
I would say the AltraFWD running shoes are a great option for those not wanting to jump into the deep end with more aggressive heel to toe drops. The rocker motion is really gentle and a great progression trainer ideal for tempo and easy runs.
